Public Viewing Sessions

Our observatory is open for public viewing sessions on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Summer sessions begin at dusk, and sessions during the rest of the year begin at 7:00pm

When the weather cooperates, our main telescope give magnificent views of the moon, planets and deep space. In addition, various telescopes and binoculars may be set up on the lawn by active members to provide views of a number of celestial objects. This allows for visitors to hop around and see more of our wonderful universe.

Please note that even if the skies are cloudy we are open for those who wish to just stop in and talk about astronomy.

Special Viewing Sessions

Our facility is available for special astronomy activities such as scout groups, classes and community service organizations. If you would like to arrange a session please contact our events coordinator by E-mail or call the observatory at (815-964-6457) and leave a message. Please make reservations at least a month in advance to allow plenty of time to complete the arrangements.
